John S. Goff

January 30, 1925 — June 20, 2019

John S. Goff, 94, of New Castle passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his home. He was born January 30, 1925 in Middletown to the late Horace and Ruth (Sargent) Goff.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, John served from 1943 – 1946. John graduated from Ball State University where he studied Elementary Education and received his Master’s Degree in Elementary Administration. He was a teacher and elementary principal for New Castle Community Schools for 35 years. John was a member of the First Friends Church in New Castle. He enjoyed golf, volunteering at the Basketball Hall of Fame, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and driving the Henry Community Hospital shuttle.

He is survived by a son, Greg (Randy) Goff of Fishers; a daughter, Jennifer (David) Lagomarcino of Noblesville; Brazilian son, Luiz Mauro Gomes Silveira; 5 grandchildren, Katie (Brandon) Hutchens, Kyle (Amanda) Goff, Scott (Michele) Goff, Suzy (Neal) Rulon and Hope Lagomarcino; 6 great grandchildren, Parker Lindsa Goff, Charlotte Lane Goff, Avery Eleanor Goff, Silas Lee Hutchens, Clara Lyn Goff and Ty Sargent Rulon; beloved companion, Martha Michael; and a brother, Jim Goff of West Palm Beach Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Goff; a granddaughter, Sarah Lagomarcino; and a brother Joe Goff of PA.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at First Friends Church in New Castle with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating, followed by a dinner in the Church basement.
