John E. Hill

John E. Hill, 62, of New Castle, formerly of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Henry County Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. John was born October 30, 1949 in New Castle, the son of Marvin and Barbara Hill.

John graduated from Knightstown High School in 1969. He then served in the U.S. Marines during the Viet Name era. John went to work at Western Electric in Indianapolis where he remained until the company closed. He then was self employed hauling steel for U.S. Steel and retired from this profession.

John is survived by his mother: Barbara Hill of New Castle; daughters: Mershon (Mike) Tidd of Greenfield and Johna (Ryan) Cooksey of Maxwell; sisters: Judy Hill of Prescott, AZ, and Jean Ann Hill of New Castle; four grandchildren: T.J. Callaway, Zoie Tidd, Madison and Ryan Cooksey; nephews: Mike (Amanda) Hill of Shirley, children: Brayden and Kendyl of Shirley, Brandon (Erica) Hill, children: Ashyln and Kayden of Prescott, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his father: Marvin F. Hill; grandparents: Everett and Ethel Sheffield, Otis Hill and Esther Hill Benbow.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Friends may call 4-8 PM Friday, March 9.
