John S. Hurley

John S. Hurley, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his home. He was born June 10, 1937 in Columbus, IN, a son of the late John Stevens and Mildred Calkins.

John served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Indianapolis following 36 years of service, where he was also a member of the UAW. John loved his church family at Christian Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis, where he had been a member since 1997. He enjoyed reading books and visiting bookstores.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty L. Hurley of Indianapolis, daughter, Tonya Kenison of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Steven Steele, Brandy (Billy) Kelley, and Ashley Blakely; five great grandchildren, A.J., Daylon, Linkin, Bianca, and Tristan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Hurley and Dale Cooksey.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at Christian Tabernacle Church, Indianapolis, with Pastor Kent Jordan officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Monday at the church. Graveside services will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Tabernacle School, 802 S.
