John R Murphy

John R. Murphy, age 60, passed away from this life on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born September 29, 1953 in New Castle, Indiana to Henry and Geneva (Hopkins) Murphy.

He was a maintenance technician for Sanderson Farms and had previously worked as a custodian at New Castle Chrysler High School.

Survivors include his mother, Geneva Murphy of New Castle; two daughters, Denita (Jeremy) Kaherl of Oakland, ME and Dara (David) Upchurch of New Castle; three sons, Johnny (Karen) Murphy, Jr. of Mason, OH, David (Stacey) Murphy of Lawrence, IN and Brandon Murphy of New Castle; a step-daughter, Tiffany Saulters of Collins, MS; a step-son, Ronnie Eakes of Collins, MS; three sisters Deanna Neal of New Castle, Janet Murphy of Greenfield, IN and Cheri Lorton of Millville, IN; three brothers, Jimmy Murphy of Collins, MS, Quincey Murphy of Springhill, TN and Kelly Murphy of Saltlick, KY; grandchildren, Nathan Murphy, Alyssa Rawls, Sierra, Kyra, Jonathan, Phillip and Elizabeth Kaherl, Isabelle and Keegan Murphy, Austin, Noah and Hunter Melton, Caden, Audrey, and Isaac Upchurch, Ryland Murphy, Chloe Anderson and Madison Riley; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Sanford Murphy; two brothers, Larry and David Murphy; and a sister, Pearlie Murphy; nephew, Dustin Murphy.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend James Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
