John R. Nugent, 75, of Knightstown, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born February 20, 1940 in Bedford, IN, the son of Thomas and Bonnie (Quakenbush) Nugent.
John was a 1957 graduate of Bedford High School. He worked at RCA and Ford Motor Company retiring after 30 years of service. John loved fishing, boating, camping, NASCAR and was an avid softball player. He was good with his hands and enjoyed sports. John was an all-round good guy, jokester and storyteller. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Donnita (King) Nugent of Knightstown; son, Richard L. Nugent of Indianapolis; daughters, Amy Lynn (Martin) Irwin of Laveen, AZ, Tammy Dawn (James Jr.) Marshall of Knightstown, Heather J. Shields (fiance, Jason Mink) of Knightstown; a sister, Sharon L. “Sherrie” (Robert) Lane of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
