John C. “J.C.” Ratcliff, 69, of Beech Grove, passed away December 15, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital Beech Grove following a brief illness. He was born March 25, 1941 in San Diego, CA, the son of Charles John and Carrie (Johnson) Ratcliff.
A graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, he attended Indiana University and retired from Chrysler Corporation in Indianapolis. He formerly served on the Evansville Police Department from 1965-1970. J.C. was a professional photographer and was a former member of the Greenfield Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed attending and announcing rodeos. In his later years, his passion was his grandkids and his train club.
He is survived by his mother, Carrie Johnson Goldberg of Richmond; a daughter, Terri (husband, John) Spafford of Indianapolis; a son, Robert (wife, Robin) Ratcliff of Evansville; four grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Spafford; Robert C. and James Scott Ratcliff; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Ratcliff.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
