John “Jody” Reasoner, 65, of New Castle passed away at Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born September 12, 1946 in Muncie the son of Connie (La Bella) Reasoner of New Castle and the late Noah Homer “Hap” Reasoner, Jr.
Jody retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2008 after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Cross Road Church where he was ordained in 2009 for outreach ministry. He started and ran the Celebrate Recovery Program working with inmates at Pendleton Reformatory. He was also involved with Restore Recovery program through the church. He loved classic cars. He enjoyed fellowship and Bible Study, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, writer, and wrote a book of poetry. He also enjoyed playing Euchre with his “bubby.”
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Karen (Paul) Reasoner whom he married Feb 7, 2004; four children: Melissa (husband, Ron) Heaton of North Vernon, Scott (wife, Kim) Reasoner of New Castle, Heather La Bella of Los Angeles, Kristi Cooper of Indianapolis; two grandchildren: Chase and Faith Heaton; sister: Terri “Cookie” (husband, Jerry) Cox of New Castle; nieces and nephews: Jon and Kelly-Ann Cox, David and Jay McDaniel.
A celebration of his life will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery in New Castle. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday, January 3 at the funeral home.
