John Seyfferle

John R. Seyfferle, 71, of Knightstown passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 28, 2009 in his home. Born near Greenfield, IN on April 3, 1938, he was the son of the late John Henry and Luella (Barnard) Seyfferle.

John retired after 31 plus years at Delco Remy. He had been a farmer, real estate broker, and company owner of J & B Real Estate with his wife Betty. John and Betty raised registered Tennessee Walking horses.

He is survived by a son: John Chris (wife, Nancy) Seyfferle of Shirley; two step-sons, Michael Zornes of Greensboro; Steven Ray (wife: Lori) Zornes of FL; grandchildren: Andrea Jones (companion, Jamie High) of Elwood, Zachary Zornes of Knightstown, Dustin (wife: Brittany) Seyfferle of Rushville, Derek Seyfferle of Shirley, Ashley Wilhelm and Brittany (husband: Alf) Cox, both of Spiceland, Kristi (husband, Beau) Mohler of South Carolina and Michael Gardner of Shirley; great grandchildren: Aleysha Jones, Shane Jones, Christian High, Alexis High, Ian Seyfferle, Macy Seyfferle, Addison Seyfferle and Dominick Stewart, Nathan Cox and Myah Gardner; his sister, Virginia Walker of Greenfield. John was also survived by his wife’s brothers and sisters, whom he considered his brothers and sisters, Jack White (companion, Mary Van Arsdol), Jerry (wife, Mary) White, Evelyn (husband, George) Mason and Shirley Sullivan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years: Betty E. Seyfferle, step-daughter, Julie Ann Zornes, and a niece, Janice Ellis, a great grandson: Steven Stewart. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Thomas Current officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery.
