John F. Waterman, 89, of New Castle went to his eternal home Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at his family farm. He was born in a log cabin on December 2, 1935 in Hamilton County, Indiana to the late Ralph and Lelah (Crickmore) Waterman.
The seventh of eleven children, John was a lifelong dairy farmer in Henry and Hamilton counties. He loved the Lord and it showed in every aspect of John’s life. He was a Gideon for Wayne County West and member of New Testament Church of Christ in Hagerstown. John also went on mission trips to Haiti and was very involved in his church. He participated in the Noblesville Jaycees, where he won the “Father of the Year” award in 1974. John loved spending time with his family and many life-long friends. He just loved people and always helped those in need. John was a great storyteller and had a vivid imagination.
Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife of nearly 72 years, Joyce (Lipps) Waterman; children, John Richard (Marsha) Waterman of New Castle, Kristi Arpasi of Shelbyville, Marcia (Michael) Perez of Boca Raton, Florida, Kelly Ginder of Greenfield, Amy (Steve) Miller of Fishers and Jamie Waterman of Noblesville; 16 grandchildren, John Brandon (Maryanne) Waterman of Anderson, Jeff (Jennifer) Waterman of Losantville, Robb (Erin) Greene of Shelbyville, April (Rick) Corder of Colorado, Stephanie (Justin) Pierce of Arizona, Jacqueline (Mike O’Neill) Perez of Florida, Matthew Perez of Florida, Gabrielle Perez of Florida, Mandy Ginder of Greenfield, Kelsey Ginder of Westfield, Jon (Stephanie) Ginder of Westport, Elizabeth Cain of Westfield, Will Miller (Fiancé Danielle Wilson) of Carmel, Abraham (Fiancé Caroline Dickey) Miller of Fishers, Benjamin VanBlaricum of Indianapolis and Jessica VanBlaricum of Noblesville; 19 great-grandchildren, Austin, Delaney, Dane, Leland and Audrey Waterman, RG, Flora, Lucy Greene, Nathaniel Perez, Cassandra Corder, Jayla and Sienna Lambert, J.C. and Alessia Perez-O’Neil, Laura Ginder, Austin Cain, Jailyn and Brooklyn Miller and Luna Brighton; brothers and sisters, Janet Wilson, Jake Waterman and Jane Chrisman, all of Noblesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joy Johnson, Julia Ann Sigler, June Landis and Jean Layton and brothers, Jerry, Jack and Joe Waterman.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the New Testament Church of Christ with Jason Ridenour and Pastor Paul Gearhardt officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Brick Church Cemetery in Hagerstown.
