John Robert Weaver, age 80, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Although he had been in ill health for several years, his death was unexpected. He was born May 31, 1931 in New Castle to the late William M. and Estella (Lindamood) Weaver Edwards.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1986 after 33 years of service. John was a lifelong member of Chicago Corner Christian Church and a member of the American Legion. He loved fishing, hunting and trapping and enjoyed spending winters in Winter Haven, Florida for the past eleven years. He loved to share with others and enjoyed visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, V. Helen (Enochs) Weaver; a son, Tim (wife, Cynthia) Weaver of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren, Bryan Weaver of Portland, OR and Jonathan (wife, Darby) Weaver of Lewisburg, KS; great grandson, Diesel Weaver; brother, Richard (wife, Bette) Weaver of Haines City, FL; niece, Suzanne Weaver of Richmond, IN; cousin, Patty (husband, Raymond) Sharp of Hagerstown and a special little girl, named Bunny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Weaver; niece, Barbara Weaver; stepfather, Harold Edwards.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Chicago Corner Church 8405 East State Road 38, New Castle, Indiana, with Reverends Tom Kerr and Roger Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Chicago Corner Church, or the Henry County Community Foundation, P.O.
