Joseph Lee Baty, 83, of Middletown passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 3, 1928 in Mt. Summit the son of Charles E. and Anna (Bartley) Baty.
Joseph had been employed as a hotel manager in Del Rio, TX and was laundry manager at Ball Memorial Hospital. He had also worked at Durham Furniture in Muncie and for the Railroad. He had attended 11th St Christian Church in Muncie. He enjoyed woodworking and made several clocks.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children: Michael (Michelle) Baty of Middletown, Joe Jr. (Leila) Baty of Anderson, Patricia (Steven) Horn of KY, Penny (Thomas) Johnson of Omaha, NE, Greg (Jean) Baty of Middletown; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; stepson: Bill (Marie) Ritter of VA; a brother: Paul (Lou) Baty of New Castle; three sisters: Bernice Tower of New Castle, Alma Franklin of Lawrenceville, GA, and Mary Sheridan of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Martha Jo Baty, 4 brothers: Ralph, Thomas, Charles and William Baty; stepson: Phillip Huffman.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, March 30 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Rick Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. Friends may call from 9 – 10 Friday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Cancer Society or Juvenile Diabetes Assn. with envelopes available at the funeral home.
