Joseph Silvers

July 22, 1975 — May 9, 2009

Joseph B. “Joe” Silvers II, 33, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Henry County Hospital. He was born July 22, 1975 in New Castle, a son of Danny and Shalinda (Hinton) Silvers.

A 1994 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, he also graduated from Indiana University in 1998 with an associate’s degree in General Studies. He was presently employed at DOT Foods in Cambridge City as the Head Trainer. Raised in church his entire life, he was an active member of Open Arms Church in New Castle where he played the saxophone in the Praise Band. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed NASCAR, basketball and football. He always attended the sports activities of his brother and his children. He was known amongst his family and friends as a peacemaker, no matter what the situation.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of nine years, Angi Silvers, whom he married August 7, 1999; a daughter: Olivia “Slick” Silvers, a student at Parker Elementary, a son: Drew “Big Man” Silvers, a student of Building Blocks Daycare, his parents: Danny and Shalinda Silvers of New Castle, a sister: April (husband: Larry) Stallings of Mishawaka, two brothers: Jason (wife: Carla) Silvers of Greenfield, Josh Silvers of New Castle, nieces and nephews: Haley and Bryce Silvers, Makenzi and Makenna Stallings, Bryleigh Silvers, Haleigh and Ashlyn Hurley; maternal grandparents: Ray and Ermon Hinton of New Castle, mother-in-law: Sarah Hurley of New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Marti and Ethel Silvers, maternal great grandparents: Brad and Flossie Carter and Dennis and Rosa Hinton.

Services will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:00AM at Open Arms Church in New Castle with Brother Paul Davis officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, May 12, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to an Educational Fund for Olivia and Drew Silvers c/o Citizens State Bank with envelopes available at the funeral home.
