Laverna Josephine (Adams) Lawson/True, 95 passed away in her sleep of natural causes on Sunday September 13, 2015. She was born on January 25, 1920 in Somerset, Kentucky. She moved to New Castle, IN in 1940 where she lived for the next 73 years. For the past 4 years she has resided in Martinsville, IN.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, James Lowell Lawson Sr. and Richard Carlton True, both of New Castle, IN.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Lowell Lawson Jr of Coalmont, IN and Paul Tilden Lawson of New Castle: 5 siblings; Edgar Adams of Stearns, KY, Betty Jean Hardwick of Somerset, KY, Lena Spaw of Louisville, KY, Lois Golsen of Somerset, KY and Lucille Wooten of Chula Vista, CA.
She is survived by 3 sisters: Lyda Couch of Birmingham, AL, Mary Lee Cundiff of Walton, KY and Mildred Spears of Somerset, KY; one son, Joseph Edward Lawson (wife Meri) of Martinsville, IN; 4 grand children, Tricia Brinduse of Anderson, IN, Amber Buckler of Hebron, KY, Ruth Ann (Lawson) of New Castle, IN. and Benjamin Asher Lawson of Van Alstine, TX; 4 great grandchildren, Megan Brinduse of Anderson, IN, Macey Barraw of Belton, MO, Justin Lawson of Dallas TX and Greg Lawson of Dallas TX; one great-great grand daughter Allyson Barraw of Belton, MO.
Josephine was a member of the North 14th Street Church of Christ in New Castle. She was an avid student of the Bible and loved to share her knowledge of it. She had previously worked at Perfect Circle Corp. in New Castle, IN during the war.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mike Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
