Josinah W. “Jo” Stonerock Howell, 84, of New Castle passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Henry County Hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 29, 1927 in Wayne County, Indiana to the late Archie and Methel (Smith) Brown.
A 1945 graduate of New Castle High School, she and her husband, John Stonerock owned and operated Stony’s Café in New Castle. Jo attended Memorial Wesleyan Church in New Castle and was a member of the Lady Elks. She loved traveling with her family and watching her grandchildren in their activities, and always looked forward to weekly dinners with her friends.
She is survived by her daughter: Karen (Stonerock) Fisher of New Castle; grandchildren: Amy (husband: David) Tyner of New Castle, Julie (husband: Tadd) Miller of Indianapolis; great grandchildren: Noah Tyner, Elijah Tyner, Emma Tyner, Anna Tyner, and Ethan Miller; brother: Wilbur Brown of Florida; several nieces and nephews; sisters in law: Jewel Brown, Betty Stonerock, Jeanette Stonerock, Phyllis Stonerock and many special friends.
She is preceded in death by her first husband: John Stonerock and late husband: Virgil Howell.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Reverends Dennis Hilton and Paul Kirk officiating.
