Joyce "Ann" Curtis

Joyce “Ann” (Young) Curtis, 86, of Springport passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 after an extended journey with Parkinson’s disease.  Up until the end, she maintained her sense of humor, determination, and generous spirit.  She loved her family and friends and always had a smile on her face. 

Ann had a passion for all types of photography, but especially loved capturing the beauty of nature in spring, her favorite time of year.  She was an avid music lover.  She had a large music collection and no genre or era was off limits; although she was particularly fond of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Ann also loved to read, bake, paint, and was a dedicated Young and the Restless viewer until her final days. Ann worked at local radio stations for a number of years, including WCTW, WERK, and WLBC.  In her later years, she worked for Thomas Mail.  Ann was a kind and loving person and was always willing to help others.  She had a strong faith and believed in people.  She will be missed by many.  

Ann leaves behind her husband of 69 years, George Robert “Bob” Curtis; daughters, Kathy (Randy) Lucas and Pam Hammond; grandchildren, Eric Hammond (Misty), Heather (Andrew) Sebold, Amanda (Mike) Hughen, Matthew Lucas (Nicholas), and Jennifer Hammond; great grandchildren, Chandler (Emilee), Kaycee (Denis), Noah, Blake (Blake O), Caleb, Chase, Saige, Peyton, Elijah, Lyric, Keyton, Ellary, Jacoby, and Nieko; sisters, Ruth Newby and Louise Jasper; brothers, Paul Ray, Roy, Larry, Ronnie, and Ricky Young; along with many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Cook Young; granddaughter, Brandi Hammond; sister, Francis Blackburn; brothers, Frankie, Donald, Jimmy, and David Young. 

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services in New Castle with Chaplain Phil Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.  You may express condolences or share a memory of Ann at www.hinsey-brown.com.
