JUANITA (LOWHORN) VAUGHN, 77, of Muncie went to be with the Lord Friday, August 7, 2009 at the home of her daughter, following an extended illness. She was born May 11, 1932 in Overton County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Dewey and Ethel (Gothard) Lowhorn.
Juanita was a strong willed family person, who loved her children and grandchildren. She was very hard working and loved traveling especially to the mountains. Juanita loved shopping for shoes and purses, was very generous, and enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Lois Cook of New Castle; Janet Mitchell of New Market, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Melissa (husband: Jim) Jeffries of New Castle and Jamin (wife: Jessica) Vaughn, both of New Castle; great grandchildren: Jimmy Jeffries, Xavier, Marcus, Coltin, Lucas and Savannah Vaughn, all of New Castle; four sisters: Margaret Ledbetter, Clara (husband: Bob) Craft, both of New Castle, Wilma (husband: Gene) King of Muncie and Minnie (husband: Joe) Gasper of Leland North Carolina; two brothers: John Lowhorn of New Castle and James Lowhorn of York, Pennsylvania; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: J.T. Vaughn; grandson: Larry “Little Larry†Mitchell, sister: Geneva Jeffers; two brothers: Clint and Brooks Lowhorn.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound in New Castle. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or Henry County Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
