Karen Ferrell

July 11, 1957 — April 22, 2010

Karen S. Ferrell, age 52, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born July 11, 1957 in Fort Gordon, Georgia to Jerry E. and Janice (Trueblood) Trietsch.

She was employed by the State of Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles in New Castle, where she was manager of the branch. Karen attended the Greensboro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed woodworking, camping, photography, boating and water skiing, riding Harleys and flying on a power parachute. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson. She also loved her schnauzer, Gunner.

Survivors include her husband, James “Mike” Ferrell of New Castle; a daughter, Jami Ferrell of Lewisville; a son, Christopher Ferrell of Pacific Palisades, CA; a grandson, Oliver Patterson; parents, Jerry and Janice Trietsch of Anderson; three sisters, Penny Jackson of Cadiz, Sandy Trietsch and Carrie Bradley both of Anderson; mother-in-law, Melba Riddle of Greensboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; three aunts.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lestie and Benjamin Trueblood, Howard and Naomi Trietsch and Evelyn Brideson; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Mark Powell and Ruth Waite officiating. Burial will follow in Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society and the Henry County Relay for Life with envelopes available at the funeral home.
