Karen (Wright) Lackey, 82, of Indianapolis, formerly of Spiceland, IN, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Karen was a 1959 graduate of Spiceland High School. She then continued her education earning a Bachelor’s degree at Ball State University, followed by a Master’s degree at Butler University. She then went on to work for various organizations such as Purdue Extension and the Indiana Dairy Council. She was also a decades-long employee of Indiana Farm Bureau where she served as a Certified Home Economist.
Throughout her life, Karen was a staunch advocate for the agriculture industry. She was also a philanthropist and very active in her community. Karen played a major role in a variety of organizations, such as the Delta Theta Tau Philanthropic Sorority, of which she was a member of the Nu Tau chapter.
Karen is survived by a sister, Carlene Creviston of Mooreland, IN, a brother, Rex Wright of Spiceland, IN, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Cordelia Wright, brother, Ray Wright, and nephew, Thaddeus Wright.
