Karen Lynn Thompson

Karen Lynn Thompson, 69, of New Castle passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born on February 23, 1955 in New Castle a daughter of the late James Hagerman and Rebecca Joy (Carender) Hufford.

Karen was a 1973 graduate of the Walter P. Chrysler High School. She had been employed by the State Hospital in New Castle for 22 years and retired from Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center where she served as a QMA for 11 years. Karen loved her family and adored her dog, Maxwell. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her late husband, Steve; they shared a joyful life together. Karen valued spending time with her son, Jason while enjoying the scenery at Memorial Park. Karen was a football and basketball fan and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers.

Karen is survived by her son, Jason Hunnicutt of Muncie; sisters, Vicki Walters of New Castle and Jody (Kevin) Vincent of Logansport; aunts, Cathy (Donnie) Alley of New Castle and Mary Jefferies of Indianapolis; special lunch friends, Rick and Tina Cottman and Iris Griffin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and David Hufford and James and Shelby Hagerman; husband, Steve Thompson; special aunt and uncle, Marjorie and Ivan Powless; special cousin, Jon Powless.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Wednesday.
