Karen Wright, 62, of Spiceland passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Henry County Hospital following a very brief illness. She was born August 31, 1950 in Richmond a daughter of the late Robert E. and Tampa D. (Swallow) McDivitt.
A 1968 graduate of Spiceland High School, she was secretary of the Indiana Ayrshire Breeders Association, and was also secretary for South Henry Scholarship Fund. Karen served as a Democrat Precinct Committeeman for many years. What Karen enjoyed most was being a devoted Instructional Aide, working with all the kids, whom she loved, in the resource room at Tri High School.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years: Rex Wright of Spiceland; three children: Christy (Chris) Cook of Spiceland, Quentin (Kristi) Wright of Minneapolis, MN, Samantha (Adam) Bales of Spiceland; stepdaughter: Amy (Don) Crossley of Greensfork; grandchildren: Garrett and Katie Fields of Spiceland; three step grandchildren: Jacob, Ryan and Jackson Crossley; five sisters: Sheryl (Mick) Roland of Knightstown, Linda (Scott) Thomas of Argyle, TX, Mary (James) Brown of Bean Blossom, Pamela McDivitt of West Palm Beach, FL, Vicki (Dale) Johnson of Boynton Beach, FL; brother: Robert McDivitt of Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Thaddeus Wright; two brothers: Tom and Jimmy McDivitt; her stepfather: James Angus.
A memorial service will be at 5:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Kathy Harris officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to South Henry Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 323, Lewisville, IN 47352.
