Katherine Deaton

Katherine Deaton, age 85, of New Castle, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born January 14, 1928 in Warcreek, Kentucky to the late Burnett and Elvira (Turner) Hollie.

She was a member of Cherry Valley Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio and attended Charity Baptist Church in New Castle.

Survivors include her sons, Lawrence R. (Sandy) Shackelford and James L. (Sue) Venters, both of Middletown, OH; three grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Maude Martin of Mayfield, KY and Martha Hete of Lewisville, IN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Deaton, Sr. and Glenn Boyd and four sisters, Lela Mae Hollie, Ethel Arvin, Eva Marie Hays and Bertha Foulkner.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Warrior Foundation~Freedom Station, 1223 1/2 28th St., San Diego, CA 92102.
