Katherine "Sally" O'Rear

Katherine Virginia “Sally†O’Rear, age 87, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 25, 2008. She was born December 19, 1920 in Seymour, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Jemima (Stewart) Dowd.
She was chief clerk of the Selective Service System in New Castle and was a member of the United States Navy Waves, a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Henry County Humane Society. She enjoyed fishing and shopping.
Survivors include a daughter: Ginny (husband: Donald) Koss of New Castle; a son: Michael (wife: Deborah) O’Rear of Knoxville, TN; one granddaughter: Kerry (husband: Brian) of California and her precious dog: Babe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Keith W. O’Rear in 2004; brother: Harry Stewart Dowd.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
