Kathryn L. Cashdollar, 90, of New Castle, entered the presence of her Savior on January 7, 2025. A devoted Christian, Kathryn lived a life of unwavering faith, grace, and joy, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will forever inspire those who knew her.
Born May 3, 1934, in Spiceland, Kathryn attended school in Sulphur Springs, where she met her lifelong best friend, Kay, in kindergarten. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1952 and carried the values of faith, service, and dedication throughout her life.
Kathryn was a devoted mother to her five children and a beloved grandmother, always keeping a cookie jar filled for her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family, and her love for them was evident in every act of care and support she gave.
A committed member of Park Place Free Methodist Church for over 40 years, Kathryn found joy and purpose in serving her community. She participated in the choir, Bible studies, and Cradles Children’s Program. Kathryn’s passion for helping others led her to participate in Kids’ Hope, an afterschool program for at-risk youth. She also served as a youth and discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Kathryn had a giving and compassionate heart, radiating light to those fortunate enough to have known her. Her passion to serve others was a testament to her faith and love for God.
In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching Downton Abbey. She loved these simple pleasures as much as she loved pouring herself into the lives of others. On top of it all, she was stylish, fun-loving, witty, and independent.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Jenny (Duane) Hougendobler, Karen (Jeff) Justice, John Cashdollar, and Allison (Todd) Catron along with her 16 cherished grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cashdollar; her daughter, Kay “Lainey” Pike; siblings Wilfred, Denver, Lyle, Marjorie, and Lois.
A celebration of Kathryn’s life will be held at 1pm on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at Elliot Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11am and conclude at the time of the funeral service. You may express condolences or share a memory of Kathryn at www.hinsey-brown.com
