Kathy Wittkamper, 68, of Knightstown passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born March 7, 1946 in Kendallville, Indiana the daughter of Manford Jerome and Valera S. (Lung) Ober.
Kathy grew up in Albion, IN and met her husband, John R. Wittkamper, while attending Ball State University. She was an elementary school teacher, having taught at Tri Elementary, the Indiana Soldier’s and Sailor’s Children’s Home and Charles A. Beard at Carthage in 1st and 3rd grades. She had been a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Knightstown chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Kathy was active in the First Baptist Church in New Castle and formerly Center Christian Church in Mays. She loved gardening, especially her flower garden. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, kids from her church and she volunteered at Charles A. Beard.
Her memory is cherished by, husband of 46 years, John R. Wittkamper of Knightstown; son, Joe (Shannon) Wittkamper of Avon; daughter, Mary Wittkamper of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Riley and Sadie Wittkamper; brothers, Lee (Roberta) Ober and Larry (Judy) Ober both of Albion; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jerry Ober.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in New Castle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Cancer Center, Oncology Suite 50, 801 N State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
