Kelly Scott Bush

September 17, 1968 — February 17, 2024

Kelly Scott Bush, a resident of New Castle, was surrounded by family and friends as he entered his heavenly home on Saturday, February 17, 2024. He was fifty-five years old and fought a brave, two-year battle with cancer. Kelly decided to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior on November 29, 2021, during a visit with their now-retired New Castle First Church of the Nazarene pastor, Reverend Danny Goddard.

Kelly was born on September 17, 1968, and was loved and raised by his parents, Julian and Joyce Bush, whom he called and spoke to nearly every day. Kelly and his sister, Heather, loved causing trouble in their younger years and reminiscing on such times when visiting with family and friends he loved dearly.

Kelly graduated in 1987 from New Castle Chrysler High School, where he excelled in sports. He then went to Moorehead State University in Kentucky but later earned his business degree through Ivy Tech, a feat he was very proud of.

In 2003, while visiting Spring, Texas, Kelly met the love of his life, Kelli (Hudson), and they married on May 14, 2005, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. God has blessed them with a big family that includes two sons (Karter and Tristan), one daughter (Malayla), a bonus son (Elijah and his wife Morgan), and three grandkids (Kelson, Bella, and Cooper). They were all very special to him. All will greatly miss him.

Kelly loved spending time with his wife, their children and grandchildren, his side of the family, his in-laws, other family, and friends. Kelly enjoyed camping and many watersport activities, such as boating, water skiing, tubing, etc. He always looked forward to the hunting and fishing trips with his dad. He loved taking his children and grandchildren on adventures such as fishing at Westwood Park and crawdad hunting at Memorial Park. He was a big fan of watching many sports, but the Notre Dame “Fighting Irish” football team was his all-time favorite since childhood. He was a music enthusiast who loved many musicians and genres, but “90s Alternative” was his top choice. Kelly loved grilling and cooking all kinds of food and always made extra to share with others. He had a passion for Avenger movies and anything Marvel, but the Ironman series is one he would always watch or talk about. He also had a strong passion for believing that Sasquatch is real and would never miss an episode of Finding Bigfoot.

Kelly is survived by his wife and love of twenty-one years, Kelli; their previously mentioned children and grandchildren; parents Julian and Joyce Bush; sister Heather, her son Hayden (Lester Knowling); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Terri Hudson; sister-in-law, Stephanie (husband Jamie) Langston; brother-in-law, Scott (wife Laura) Hudson; two aunts and one uncle from the Hicks family; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Kay (Hicks) Bush; paternal grandparents, James & Adda Bush; maternal grandparents, Lyndon & Helen Hicks, other grandparents, Donald and Effie Shaw.
