Kenneth (Kenny) Burris of New Castle was surrounded by loved ones as he took his last breath on earth Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Kenny was born on June 26, 1947 to Lilburn and Marie (West) Burris.
He proudly served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for several factories and retired from Chrysler Corporation. Kenny was an avid hunter with his beagles and coon hounds. He loved fishing and being on his boat at Lake Salamonie. He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s events. Kenny loved his family fiercely and was the rock that they all could depend on.
Left to cherish his memory are former wife, friend and mother of his children, Donna Sue (Hoel) Burris; his four children, Chrissy Dillon, Beth (Jeff) McIlwain, Aaron Burris and Trisha Burris; grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Maloyed, Brittney (Spencer) Rottinghaus, Chelsey (Josh) Rea, Dalton McIlwain, Hayden McIlwain (Katie), Jace McIlwain, Ivey McIlwain, Ashley (Dylan) Cheesman, Tyler Burris, Alyssa Burris, Caleb Lehr-Burris, Jacob Lehr-Burris and Kenley Hudson; great-grandchildren, Laney, Piper, Harlow, Max and Caito Maloyed, Kooper and Sophia Rottinghaus, Jordan and Jade Rea; hunting and fishing buddy Richie Binford; many close friends more like brothers, Ford Minton, Jeff Pyle, Charlie Derrick, Gerald Cline and Tud Wilkinson; nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, in laws and sons-in-law Allen Maloyed and Bradley Dillon.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bishop Travis Jones officiating. Burial will take place in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition following the service. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army, American Legion and VFW. Memorial Contributions will be made to the American Legion of New Castle.
