Kenneth "Kenny" Harmon

Kenneth “Kenny” Harmon, 80, of New Castle passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his residence. He was born on October 6, 1942 to the late Omrie and Geraldine Leona (New) Harmon.

Kenny had a servant’s heart and served his Country in the United States Army for six years after graduating from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1960. Kenny was then employed by the New Castle Fire department serving his community for 37 and a half years and as Assistant Chief for many of those years. He was a member of the New Castle American Legion and VFW. Kenny enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and sightseeing.

Survivors include wife, whom he married on August 9, 2016, Sharon R. Harmon; sons, Ken and David Harmon; daughter, Dana Arterburn; step children, Pamela (William) Phillips, Michael (Tonya) Slover; several grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Harmon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lola Cross; father-in-law, Joe Cross; and special furry companion, Sophie Nicole.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the New Castle American Legion, VFW and U.S. Army at the cemetery.
