Kenneth E. Whitfield

Kenneth E. Whitfield, 85, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1928 in Carthage the son of Henry and Essie (Cravens) Whitfield.

He was a member of the UAW and employed over 35 years at Delco Remy before retiring in 1986. He also had an upholstery shop at his home for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, working outdoors, gardening and watching the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Hoosiers. He loved spending time with family especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years: Loretta Whitfield of Knightstown whom he married March 20, 1952; three children: Susanne Rains of Knightstown, Kevin Whitfield of Knoxville, TN and Tammy Nelson of Knightstown; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother: Leon Whitfield of Carthage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Beatrice Stacy Bannister; two brothers: Charles and James Whitfield.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, July 8, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Jim Downey officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
