Kevin Eugene Evans, 58 of Indianapolis and formerly of Mt. Summit passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. On November 1, 1965, he was born in New Castle to the late Richard and Fern (Manlief) Evans.
Kevin was a 1984 graduate of Blue River Valley High School where he participated in wrestling, playing the trumpet in the school band, and his acting skills shone brightly when he was cast as the "Old Geezer" in a high school play. In 1989, Kevin graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Information Systems. His work ethic and dedication were evident from an early age, starting with his first job delivering newspapers for the Courier Times in Mount Summit. He enjoyed meeting and talking with his customers. Kevin was also actively involved in Boy Scouts Troop 450, an experience that shaped his values of leadership, responsibility, and community service. His career was spent primarily in the healthcare industry, specializing in IT, and most recently, he worked for Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center located in Indianapolis where he served in the IT department.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted father, always doing his best for the family and always wanted to make people smile. He was deeply interested in the hobbies and pursuits of his son, Kyle. He enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, reading novels—particularly those focused on history, Nikola Tesla, and works by Bill O'Reilly. He had a passion for photography and sci-fi, especially Doctor Who, and enjoyed DC and Marvel Comics and was known to decompress by watching a good movie, mowing the lawn or a good dose of retail therapy. Kevin was a longtime member of the Mount Summit Christian Church and found great strength and peace in his faith
He is survived by a son, Kyle Evans; siblings, Stevan (Cheryl) Evans; Stephanie Evans; Mark Evans; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Joseph “Joe” Turk and Steven Turk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Ann (Turk) Evans in 2003.
