Kirk W. McCord, 54, of Knightstown passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born July 11, 1960 in Anderson a son of Richard McCord of Pendleton and Ivy (Hunter) Hochstedler of Knightstown.
He was a 1978 graduate of Knightstown High School where he excelled at wrestling and football. Kirk had worked in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Local #103 Operators Union. He was a very giving person and participated in various benefit rides contributing to many causes. Kirk was a veteran’s advocate and very active in the Harley Riders Association for Veterans, raising funds for various veteran causes. He was an avid brew master and wine maker, and enjoyed teaching the art to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Henry) McCord of Knightstown; daughters, Melissa (fiance, Alex Maier) McCord of Anderson and Hannah (Torrey) Labadie of Franklin; stepsons, Joe (fiance, Kelli Patrick) Houchins of Knightstown and Ben Houchins of Dunrieth; grandchildren, Zoey Houchins, Ryder Houchins, Mya Labadie, Rylan Maier, Hadley Houchins; sister, Carol McCord of Washington, NC; niece, Mallory (Richard) Shavender of NC; nephew, Trey Carroll of Dallas, TX.
A memorial service will be at 7:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Anthony Darling officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 prior to the service.
