L. Jeanne Holaday

L. Jeanne Holaday, age 82, of Muncie, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 02, 2010 at the Westminster Village in Muncie. She was born October 22, 1927 in Port Clinton, Ohio to the late Herman and Gladys (Arner) Hankammer.
She was employed by General Electric in Bellevue, Ohio, One Hour Cleaners in New Castle and the New Castle State Hospital. She was a 1945 graduate of Bellevue High School. Jeanne moved to Westminster Village in May 2007 after residing in New Castle for 44 years. In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling with her best friend Lucille. Jeanne was an avid seamstress and loved to crochet and play bingo with her friends at Westminster. She also loved spending time with her many grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jeff (wife, Linda) Holaday of New Castle, Wilbur (wife, Elsa) Holaday Jr. of Alabaster, AL, Lynette (husband, Mark) Varner of Muncie, Marijeanne (husband, Darin) Brown-Day of Greenwood and Maggie (husband, Pat) Bowen of Muncie; grandchildren, Chris (wife, Stephanie) Holaday of Greenwood, Jennifer (husband, Troy) DeHart, Andrea Kalander, Michelle Holaday, Chandra (husband, Josh) Carter, Lee Holaday of Whitbey Island, Washington, Sydney Holaday of New York, NY, Emily Varner of Muncie, Ashley Day, Alexis Brown and Jordan Brown of Greenwood and Tyler Bowen of Muncie; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Jacqueline Braden of OH; several sisters and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; close friends, Jack and Joyce Elmore of New Castle and Carl and Jean Oney of Muncie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wilbur L. Holaday Sr. in February 2005; a brother, Charles Dean “Budâ€; a sister, Vivian and a grandson, Justin.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Tom McGilliard officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Covenant Hospice, New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
