Laith Garrett Denney, 25, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2017. He was born February 22, 1991 in Union City, IN, a son of Jeff Denney and Laura Hollinger.
A 2009 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, Laith served in the U.S. Army, completing two tours in Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013, discharging with the rank of Sergeant. He loved being a soldier and was very proud to have served his country.
Laith was a very loving husband and devoted father; doting and caring for his wife and daughter. He loved playing soccer and played for New Castle. He was an avid Star Wars fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, specifically ducks, and cooking what he brought home.
He leaves behind, his wife, Brandy Denney of New Castle, whom he married February 23, 2013; his daughter, Vada Michelle Denney; his parents, Laura Hollinger (Greg Roach) of Indianapolis, and Jeff (Andrea) Denney of Mooreland; sisters, Elizabeth Hanson (Eric Lowe) of New Castle, Kaylyn Denney and Kendra Denney, both of Mooreland, Kaela (Dalton) Cook of New Castle, Kaisha Wright of CA; brothers, Joel (Jenna) Denney of Union City, OH, Saien Wright of Indianapolis, Reggie Wright of Muncie, and Deron Roach of Shoals, IN. In-laws, Melissa Pierce of New Castle and Fred Weisheit of New Castle. Maternal grandmothers, Ramona Hollinger of Union City, IN; paternal grandparents, Larry and Sara Denney of Mooreland; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves a host of close friends, many also serving in the U.S. Army, whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Hollinger.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the funeral home with Laith’s uncles, Scott Hollinger and Roy Hughes officiating.
