Larry Dean Brown, 71 of New Castle, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Henry County Hospital following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born July 16, 1944 in Goldsboro, NC, a son of the late Vernon and Marcella (Hiatt) Brown.
A 1962 graduate of Mooreland High School, he retired from Dana Corp. in Hagerstown in 1991 following 30 years of service. An avid flower gardener, Larry had over 100 different varieties of hostas, and he also raised and showed pigeons for several years. After retirement, Larry and his wife enjoyed the antique business, selling in several antique malls in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Esther E. (Lamb) Brown of New Castle; children, Brian (Amanda) of Anderson, Jill (David) Hermenet of New Castle, Allen (Hwasuk) Smith of Clearwater, FL, Gene (Maria) Smith of Sacramento, CA; seven grandchildren, David Smith of Kennard, Andrea (Charlie) Coyle of Sacramento, Erica Smith of Sacramento, Jason Smith of Clearwater, FL, Danny Smith of Baltimore, MD, Jordan Hermenet of New Castle, and Victoria Brown of Anderson; four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Marcella Brown.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with Reverends Tom Current and Henry Weaver officiating.
