Larry A. Clayborn, 79, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Henry Community Health following an extended illness. He was born April 18, 1945, in New Castle, a son of the late Lloyd and Louise (Blankenship) Clayborn.
Larry attended New Castle schools and joined the Army National Guard. His dad owned Clayborn Trucking for many years, where he began working at a young age. He also worked for New Castle Schools for several years and retired as a cement finisher.
He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Always the life of the party, and sometimes ornery, he loved spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his wife of over 62 years, Sandra L. Clayborn of New Castle; three children, Robin Lee of Greensburg, Bob (Donna) Clayborn of New Castle, and Kathy Clayborn (Steve Phillips) of Middletown; six grandchildren, Aftin Tackett, Zachary Clayborn, Tyler Clayborn, Dusty (Hilary) Bennett, Michael Bennett, and Chastin Clayborn; an “adopted” granddaughter, Brittany Clayborn; great grandchildren, Zoey Clayborn, Brenden, Eli, Nyla, Valie, Mason, Oaklee, Kinsley, Josie, Myah, Emmy and Jensen; a sister, Debbie Ritchie of New Castle; sister and brother in law, Ray and Carolyn Padgett of New Castle; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Sills; brother, Leroy Clayborn; mother and father-in-law, two nephews, Rodney and Bradley Padgett.
Services will be private for the family and burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may share memories and condolences at www.hinsey-brown.com.
