Larry Paul “Jake” Dellinger, age 68, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center of New Castle. He was born March 11, 1944 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Jacob V. and Clara (Snyder) Dellinger.
He was employed by the City of New Castle for 30 years retiring April 1999. After retiring he worked as a crossing guard for New Castle Schools. He accepted the Lord on June 17, 2012. A member of Rushville Pioneer Engineer’s Club, he never missed attending the antique tractor engine shows in Rushville and Portland. Larry was a member of the Henry County Senior Center, where he enjoyed spending time. He also enjoyed fishing, especially with his friend, Paul Allen.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Sanders of Greencastle, Bertha Stillabower and Alice Barnett both of Indianapolis; three brothers, John (wife Gertrude) Dellinger, Thomas (wife, Donna) Dellinger and Russell Dellinger all of New Castle; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by, Debbie Thornhill, who not only assisted him with life activities, but was also a great friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; three sisters, Martha Chapman, Ruth Benchina and Lula Hayes; two brothers, Kenneth and James Dellinger.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Senior Center, 229 N.
