Larry "Pat" Thomas

Larry “Pat” Thomas, 84, of New Castle, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born September 20, 1938 in Cassville, MO, a son of the late Curtis and Millie Thomas.

A 1956 graduate of Cassville High School in Cassville, MO, Pat worked for many years in Construction, working in office management. He retired from Rieth-Riley Construction following several years as their Office Manager. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the U.S. visiting family and sight-seeing. He became an avid woodworker, making many crafts and also enjoyed mowing, gardening and canning. For over 30 years, he had breakfast and coffee each morning at Sparky’s Doghouse in Mt. Summit. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events, going to the casino, and his dog, Otis.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Larry S. (Tracy) Thomas of New Castle; two grandchildren, Madison (Evan) Carender of Monticello, GA, and Thatcher (Katie) Thomas of New Castle; three great grandchildren, Revere, Olivia, and Addison; three nieces and four nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Maxine E. (Long) Thomas; a sister, Evelyn Cooper, and a brother, Bernard Thomas.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mark Herbkersman will officiate. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle/Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
