Larry A. Toy, age 66, of Springport journeyed home to Heaven Saturday, May 9, 2020 following a brief terminal illness. He was born to Earven S. Toy & Betty (Ross/Toy) Laforce in 1953 in Fleming County Kentucky. He was raised by his grandparents, Richard Ross and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Mae (Jones) Ross. He moved from Kentucky in 1976 where he met his wife Judy Eller and married in July 1983. They have been blessed with 40 years together.
He had a variety of employment positions starting at age 16 with R & L Wells Lumber yard in Morehead, Kentucky to plant manager at Mastercraft Furniture in Shipshewana, assistant plant manager and production supervisor of Greenfield Research in Howe, and assistant plant manager of Patriot Homes in Elkhart. Ending with 18 ½ years as Henry County Building Inspector in New Castle, which he enjoyed working with local contractors and serving the community. He attended East Side Church of God in Anderson. He spent his life enjoying family time, providing mentorship and memories to nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. He had a love for Pontiacs, guitars, car shows, fishing, NASCAR racing, especially Dale Earnhardt #3, and NHRA Drag Racing, especially John Force and his daughters. He was a fan of University of Kentucky Basketball and spent time by playing his guitars to the Beatles and the gospel tunes.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Judy Toy; a half brother and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020 with services following at 3:30 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Chaplain Phil Rogers officiating. It is suggested that a mask be worn and social distancing practiced. Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Hospital, Love to the Rescue at
