Laura Marie Platts

Laura Marie Platts, 70, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Morristown Manor after a courageous fight. She was born August 15, 1953 at Henry County Hospital the daughter of Donald and Patricia (Killey) Platts.

 Laura was a 1971 Chrysler High School graduate. She was a stay at home mom for the first 6 or 7 years of her daughter’s lives, then went on to achieve her degree in Dietary and Business Management where she then worked for Heritage House and Raintree Square. Laura retired from GM after 15 years of service as one of the first female machine repairists. She attended Wilkinson Church of Christ. She enjoyed baking, sewing, four-wheeling, taking walks outside and just being in nature. Laura loved her family and really enjoyed spending time with them.

 She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tonda (Dave) Wicker of Greenfield and Jolene (Mike) Powell of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Caleb (Danielle), Carissa, Dagan and Tanner Wicker, Ashley, Shaun and Spencer Powell; a brother, Ken (Teresa) Platts of New Castle; aunt, Myrna Killey; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Gary R. and John L. Platts.

Services will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Anthony Darling officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until time of service.
