Lawrence “Larry” C. Marlow, 76, of Chandler, AZ passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Brookdale Assisted living in Chandler, AZ. He was born August 16, 1938 in Indianapolis the son of George and Lillian (Murphy) Marlow.
Larry proudly served his county in the U.S. Army for 22 years, serving three tours of duty in Viet Nam. While serving in Viet Nam he received two medals but he would never talk about them. While stationed in Kansas, he also worked as a short order cook at Huddle House. He spent most of his non military life in San Angelo, TX, then the past 7 years in Chandler, AZ. He always looked forward to his trips with his brother, Ed, back to Indiana to visit family. On their trips, they would always make a point to secretly pay for someone’s dinner when stopped. He loved jokes and was always ready to laugh at a good joke, even if it was about him. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching old western movies and peach pie.
He is survived by many family members and especially loved his two great granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Rhiannon and cherished the pictures sent to him. He was a sweet, kind, loving and generous man who will be missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Marlow; his mother, Mildred L. Marlow; a sister, Patricia “Pat” Butler.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon Monday, October 6, 2014 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastor Sid Martin officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post #152. Condolences and memories may be shared at
