Leah C. Sturgill

Leah C. Sturgill, 54, of Knightstown passed away on Saturday September 30, 2023, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on April 17, 1969, in Greenfield to the late John Vernon and Willie Celestea (Frederick) Parsons.

She was a 1987 graduate of Greenfield Central High School. Leah worked as a staffing coordinator for Hancock Regional Hospital for 25 years. She enjoyed going camping at Yogi Bear campground, spending time on the beach in Ft. Myers, listening to music and going out to eat with family and friends. Leah loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a mom to many, always giving and loved to laugh.

Leah is survived by her husband, Mike Sturgill; daughters, Sonya (Eric) Whiteside, Jocelyn (Brett) Morris and Ariel (Matthew) Sturgill-Helm; grandchildren, Mazie, Eli, Emmett and Easton; siblings, Deborah (Roger) Reed, Johnny (Sherry) Parsons, Charlene Mullins, Carmen Kelp and Chad Parsons; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Leah is preceded in death by nephews, Che’ Reed and “Little” Chad Parsons.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday October 3, 2023, at the funeral home. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday October 4, 2023, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
