Leamon Raines

Leamon C. Raines, age 67, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at his residence. He was born December 8, 1944 to the late Odis and Mazie (Troxell) Raines.

He retired from the City of New Castle after over 40 years of service, all for the New Castle Water Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also spending time in his garage. He had recently given his heart and life to the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley M. (Slavey) Raines of New Castle, whom he married November 20, 1966; a son, Jimmy (wife, Karen) Raines of New Castle; a daughter, Jonie (husband, Rick) Burke of New Castle; three grandchildren, Maegan (husband, Lester) Blake of Biggsville, IL, Wesley Raines (girl friend, Lauren Daugherty) of Indianapolis and Lucas Raines of New Castle; a brother, James Ray Raines of Auburndale, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Raines (Butler) in 2011; his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Slavey; his maternal grandparents, Wesley and Mamie Troxell.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
