Leland E. Kendall, 84, of Shirley passed away April 8, 2009 at Henry County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 5, 1925 in Shirley the son of the late Charles and Edna (McLeland) Kendall.
A 1943 graduate of Kennard High School, he was a former member of the Charles A. Beard School Board and a member of the Kennard Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was active in the American Legion and a former member of the Kennard Lions Club. He will be remembered for his athletic abilities and held many county records in basketball as a Kennard Leopardcat.
He is survived by two sons: Tim (wife: Cathy) Kendall of Shirley; Andy (wife: Leah) Kendall of McCordsville; four grandchildren: Darby Kendall, Seth Kendall, Mallory Kendall and Clara Kendall; and a special nephew: John Kendall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Warren Kendall.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Dale Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, April 10, 2009. Online condolences may be made at
