Leola (Freer) Pierce, age 71, of Shelbyville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born March 25, 1939 in Blountsville, Indiana to Joseph and Crystal (Cross) Freer Patty.
She retired from Dana Corporation following 36 years of service. Leola was secretary at the Friends Meeting and was a member of the Park Place Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, crafts, sewing, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, April (husband, Donald “Bo†II) Medsker of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Madison Medsker and Donald Medsker III of Shelbyville; mother, Crystal Freer Patty of New Castle; siblings, Floyd (wife, Shirley) Freer of Losantville, Merritt (wife, Rita) Freer of Losantville; brother-in-law, Leslie Pierce of New Castle; sisters-in-law, Ruth Pierce of New Castle and Zae Pierce of Mooreland; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Freer; husband, Clarence M. Pierce.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Steve Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Community Foundation, Inc., P.O.
