Rev. Leon Davis

Rev. Leon Davis, 86, of New Castle passed away January 2, 2015 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle. He was born May 27, 1928 in New Castle, Indiana a son of the late Ernest and Flossie (Russ) Davis, Sr.

He attended Trevecca Nazarene College and Olivet Nazarene College. He pastored the Church of The Nazarene for 32 years in Indianapolis area churches. Leon was Senior Adult Minister at First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. He retired from Navistar Corporation in Indianapolis after 22 years of service. He enjoyed reading and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris (Groves) Davis; two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Bolton of Arizona and Sheryl (Hartcel) Martin of Lamar, Mississippi; grandchildren, Michelle & Jeff Barrick of Florida, Jeff & Jennifer Maddox of Tennessee, Shannon Martin of Indianapolis and Deshon & Dwane Smith of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Spencer Barrick, Isaac, Caleb & Seth Maddox, Keelan Smith, Colton Chapman and Nicole Chapman; great great granddaughter, Serinity Chapman; two sisters: Joan Booher and Gerry Jones, both of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Davis; and two brothers, Ernest Davis, Jr and Paul Davis.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at First Church of the Nazarene with the Reverends Danny Goddard, Norwood Kreuzinger and David Humble officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to services at the church.
