Leonard Ray “Jack” Crawford, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born November 1, 1928 in Greenbrier, Tennessee, the son of Arthur Burgess and Pearl Bell (Wilson) Crawford.
Jack moved to Indiana in 1953 and worked at Chrysler Corporation for 35 years before retiring. He was a very hard worker, enjoyed gardening and grew the best tomatoes. Jack liked watching NASCAR and Indy Car Series and owned several fast cars. He was an avid IU Basketball fan, enjoyed fishing and old country music.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty S. (Walling) Crawford; children, Janice (Bill) Lowrie of San Diego, CA, Jackie (Nancy) Crawford of Avon, and Melinda Carter of Greenfield; grandchildren, Eric (Schanda) Edelson, April Meece, Mark (Penny) Crawford, Amanda Melvin (Joe Boyden), Addrea Carter, Ricky Ballard, Scott (Faye) Buckrock and Randy (Karen) Buckrock; great grandchildren, Brent, Megan, Gavin, Owen, Gemma, Ellie, Aria, Anna, Zachary, Sam, Casey, Jacob, and Jessica; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Ballard; grandson, Adam Carter; siblings, Francis Dorris, Paul Crawford and Dorothy Mayes.
There will be a memorial service held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Adam’s Lake, 7165 W. County Rd. 1200 N. Knightstown, IN 46148. Friends may gather from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
