Lester F. Johnson, 94, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Wilkinson, passed away September 24, 2017 at Quality Health Care Center. He was born May 26, 1923 in Jabez, Kentucky a son of John and Sarah (Bolin) Johnson.
Lester was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He retired from Delco Remy September 30, 1976 after 30 years of service. Lester was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, golf, dancing, paying cards especially euchre and spending time in Florida. He was a member of the American Legion in Port Charlotte, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Charlene (Isaacs) Johnson of Port Charlotte; daughters, Janet (Jeff) Linch of Knightstown and Pat Cole of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Scot (Loretta) Moore of Greenfield, Erich Moore of Knightstown, Justin (Lisa) Linch of McCordsville, Amy Partin of Vermont and Michael Cole of Port Charlotte; great grandchildren, Rylie Partin, Cullen Partin, Hagan Moore, Austin Linch and Brody Linch; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Gale Johnson; siblings, Ivy Johnson, Ova Johnson, Elsie LaFavers, Rufus Johnson, Zelpha Polston, Elona Johnson, Jr. Johnson, and Erthel Johnson
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with Bishop Dan Tompkins officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the U.S. Army.
