Lewis Regner, 92, of New Castle, IN passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born October 23, 1932 in Galszollo, Hungary to the late Istvan and Agnes Botos Regner.

Lewis, along with his wife Sophia, immigrated from Hungary on October 24, 1956, one day after his 24th birthday and in 1964, he became a citizen of the United States. Lewis and Sophia were married at Camp Kilmer, NJ on February 11, 1957. They were sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle, where he was a member for over 50 years. Lewis was a retired member of the pressroom crew at The Courier Times in New Castle, IN. 

Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Sophia Radi Regner, of New Castle; sons, Michael Regner of New Castle, and Robert (Donna Crosta) Regner of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Marianna (Christopher) Regner Brass of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Patrick (Micalah Guffey) Regner, Madeline Brass, Mathew Regner, and Meredith Brass. In addition to his immediate family, Lewis has extended family and friends in Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Canada, and Hungary.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Frank Regner; mother, Agnes “Flak” Botos; and sister, Eva Herman.

Services will be at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00pm, when the services begin. Memorial contributions can be made to the Henry County Cancer Society, c/o Henry County Community Foundation, or to Henry County Hospice.
