Lodenia Erwin

Lodenia Gayle (Rayburn) Erwin, 84 of Carthage, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life into her eternal reward on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Decatur County Hospital. She was born March 9, 1939 in Lewis County Kentucky, a daughter of the late Raymond and Opal Rayburn.

Lodenia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald H. Erwin; parents, Raymond and Opal Rayburn; mother and father-in-law, Rosa and Mack Brinegar; brothers, Talmadge (Linda Lou) Rayburn and Richard Rayburn; sisters, Judy Roark and Carolyn Perry.

She is survived by her 11 children, Keith (Mary) Erwin of Middletown, IN, Wanda (Ervin) Olsheske, Linda Erwin, Breta Erwin, Patty (Don) Gross of Knightstown, IN, Lois (Tom) Miller of Shirley, IN, Lloyd (Tammy) Erwin of Knightstown, IN, Jon (Jessie) Erwin of Olive Hill, KY, Lisa (Bill) Byrd of Carthage, IN, David (Michelle) Erwin of Knightstown, IN, Michael (Sara) Erwin of Rushville, IN; 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Leronis Hilderbrand of Tallulah, LA, Leroy (Tina) Rayburn, Buck (Sheila) Rayburn, Billy Joe (Jackie Jo) Rayburn, Greg (Charlotte) Rayburn all of Olive Hill, KY; sisters, Irene (Frank) Evans of Grayson, KY, Pamela (Sam) Rayburn, Barbara (Bill) Wilson of Olive Hill, KY; brother-in-law, Bill Perry. Lodenia leaves behind many other family members, neighbors and friends who will truly miss her.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown, Indiana.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Globe Christian Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky with visitation from 12:00 PM until time of service. Burial will follow in Rayburn Family Cemetery.
