Logan "Bud" Frost

Logan “Bud” Frost, 80, of New Castle, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home with family and friends present, offering him love and prayers as he entered into the open arms of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was born October 18, 1936 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Wetson and Ruby (Garrett) Frost.

He was a life-long resident of New Castle and a 1955 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School where he enjoyed playing sports on the football and baseball team and wrestled on the first team coached by Langdon Hay.

He served in the Marine Corp from 1955 to 1959 and received a Good Conduct Medal upon an Honorable Discharge at Cherry Point Marine Corp Airbase in Cherry Point North Carolina. “Bud” retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle following 30 years of service as foreman in the Tool and Die Shop. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0137 of New Castle.

He was an avid fan of all of the New Castle Trojan teams and held an All Sports season ticket for over 50 years. One of his proudest achievements was when he was part of a group of individuals that was instrumental in establishing the Little League Football program in New Castle. He then became one of the coaches along with friends, Kay Miller and Mardel Baker who successfully coached for five years winning the championship trophy every year. The three friends then coached the Middle School football team for two more successful years. He later became an umpire for the Babe Ruth Baseball games for several years.

Bud also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and horse racing. He played golf every week with his friends. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Colts, U.C.L.A. and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Among all of his family and friends they enjoyed his quick humor and his love of playing games. He encouraged everyone to compete and play their best. Many wonderful memories are shared by everyone for all of the fun times playing yard games during the warm summer days.

Left to cherish his memories are, his fun loving daughter, Kimberly (David) Gibson of New Castle; three sons, Jeffrey Frost of Palm Bay, FL, Jay (Diane) Frost of Orlando, FL and Samuel Frost (fiancé, Kimberly) of New Castle; grandchildren, Jordan (Susan) Gibson of Wauconda, IL, Kyle (Cindy) Gibson of Brownsburg, IN, Benjamin Frost of Orlando, FL, Janet Frost of St. Petersburg, FL, Taylor Frost of Dallas, TX, Hunter, Jacob and Olivia Frost all of Valrico, FL; two great grandchildren, Liam Gibson of Brownsburg, IN and his namesake, Logan Gibson of Wauconda, IL; a sister, Gay Keith of New Castle; sisters-in-law, Knoxie Frost of Bakersville, CA and Cheryl (Darrell) Scales of Springport, IN; several nieces and nephews including Barry Keith, Kevin Keith and Kent (Kristen) Keith all of New Castle, Scott Frost of New Castle and Tanya (Steve) Alford of Calabasas, CA, Jennifer (Eric) Grim of New Castle, Sommer (Shane) Cannon of Springport and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Frost and Archie Frost; a brother-in-law, Jack Keith.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with his son, Samuel Frost officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion and a contingent from the Marine Corp.
