God’s Heavenly Choir sounds more beautiful with the passing of beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Lois Ann Vestal, age 71, of New Castle on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at IU Ball Hospital in Muncie. She was born January 10, 1945 in Olive Hill, Kentucky a daughter of the late Cleff and Laura Jane (Jones) Madden.
Lois was the manager of JoAnn Fabrics in New Castle and SoFro Fabrics in Anderson for many years. After retiring, Lois spent many winters in Florida and always enjoyed her greatest pleasure, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be so sadly missed by her Brothers and Sisters in Christ at the Northside Church of God where she was a member and enjoyed playing the piano, guitar, and singing the beautiful hymns that everyone so loved. Our sad loss is heaven’s new angel!
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Tom Vestal; children, Kenny (Angela) Weaver of Spiceland, Diane (Danny) Criswell of New Castle and Larry (Emily) Weaver of Middletown; stepdaughter, Tawna (Steve) Poore of New Lisbon; stepson, Scott Vestal (companion, Ruby Dobbs) of Muncie; grandchildren; Teddy Criswell, Hayden and Olivia Weaver, Luke, Isaac, and Joel Weaver; step grandchildren; Angela Torres and Jessica Poore; sisters, Jeanette (Paul) Tabor, of New Castle, Louise Gorman of Knightstown, Sue (Wilbur) Cross of New Castle, Betty (Bill) Chase of St. Cloud, Florida and Corrine Bauman of Orlando, Florida; brother-in-law, Bob Butler of Morehead, Kentucky and Jim (Sheila) Vestal of Florida; sister-in-law; Gay Madden of Russell, Kentucky and Judy (Dale) Stigall of New Castle; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Diana Kay Madden, Geraldine Bradley, and Chloe Jean Butler; a brother, Fred Madden; two nephews; Jack Claywell and Steve Tabor; and a great niece, Laura Claywell Parsons.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Northside Church of God 927 North 14th Street, New Castle with Pastors Phil Brown and Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
